You do not need to call to see where your passport application stands. The State Department shows your status online once your application has been entered — usually about two weeks after you apply.

Enter your last name, date of birth, and the last four digits of your SSN.
Read your current status — it usually appears about two weeks after you apply and updates as your application moves.
